Apart from their mad max captain, Delhi could be described as the blue-collared team in IPL – it is made up of hard workers high on utility and low on flash value.

Then there's Glen McGrath, arguably the best pace bowler of the era, and Asif, who is being looked upon as McGrath's successor.

McGrath wasn't picked by any team during the first auction - a surprise, and you could trust the Australian to prove his critics wrong.

There also are lots of homegrown heroes with appreciable domestic records.

IPL 2008 Winners

Fernando, Jayasuriya share honours in Mumbai win
Chasing a meager 123, Mumbai avenged their loss to Bangalore in their previous encounter by cruising home in 16 overs with nine wickets in hand. After Dilhara Fernando set up the win with his four-wicket haul, Mumbai openers Sanath Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar put up a 96-run stand.

The duo began sedately as Mumbai's fifty came in the eighth over but Jayasuriya exploded in a Vinay kumar over, clobbering him for thee sixes. And with the upped ante, it was always going to be smooth sailing for Mumbai.
